At the same time, the hospitality industry commits Millions of pounds of soap to North American landfills. This is a negative equation awaiting a positive solution. In steps Clean the World and Mission Possible...
Clean the World, a US based non-profit, and Mission Possible a Downtown Eastside charity are partnering to recycle soap and save lives.
On August 16th 2010, Mission Possible is opening a recycling centre employing women at risk who reside in Vancouver's downtown eastside. The employed women will help clean and sanitize the gently used soap and bottled amenities discarded from hotels. This reasonably priced recycling program sends the newly sanitized and repurposed soap to communities of need around the world as well as local homeless shelters.
Join us as we launch this new recycling social enterprise at Mission Possible (543 Powell St.) on August 16th at 1:00pm.
